Postdoctoral Position in Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics

The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at Florida State University has an opening for a post-doctoral position in Condensed Matter Theory, beginning September 1, 2010. This position will involve theoretical research work in a wide variety of areas, including: theory of correlated electronic systems, superconductivity, quantum magnetism, quantum Hall effect, quantum information theory, metal-insulator transitions, statistical mechanics of non-equilibrium and glassy systems, and related problems. Postdoctoral Research Associate, Condensed Matter / Magneto-Infrared-Optics
Position Start Date: Available immediately
Salary: 35,000 - 40,000
Type: Full Time - Experienced (non-manager)
A postdoctoral position is immediately available for an experimentalist in low temperature magneto-optics. Planned experimental work is the infrared optical study of graphene at high magnetic fields. This is a collaborative project among the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at Florida State University (Dr. Yong-Jie Wang), Columbia University (Prof. Philip Kim) and Georgia Institute of Technology (Professor Zhigang Jiang). The experimental work will take place mostly at the Mag Lab with close collaborative efforts at Columbia University and Georgia Tech. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in physics or a related field, and the experience of lithographic technique and low temperature transport measurement are preferred.
