ArrowGraduate Opportunities in Engineering

Florida A&M University and Florida State University

Since it was established in 1982, the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering has become one of the fastest growing engineering colleges in the nation. The jointly run institution occupies two, state-of-the-art buildings with 200,000 square feet of classroom, office and laboratory space … and plans for more. The College of Engineering is a short walk from the Magnet Lab, with which the college maintains close ties. In particular, the Department of Chemical & Biomedical Engineering has active research collaborations in the fields of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), including the joint purchase of a 11.75-T (500-MHz) wide-bore magnet sited at the College of Engineering. This synergy provides graduate students with a unique opportunity to use fundamental engineering principles coupled with the benefits of the highest available magnetic fields.

The program involves experimental and theoretical research in a variety of areas, including:

  • Biomedical imaging
  • Cell and tissue engineering
  • Multi-Scale theory, modeling and simulations
  • Nanoscale science and engineering
  • Polymers and complex fluids

In addition, Chemical & Biomedical Engineering has active research programs in plasma reaction engineering, process control and systems engineering.
