High Pressure Lab
The High Pressure Cell of the NHMFL uses devices called diamond anvil cells (DAC’s) to generate pressures equal to that at the center of the Earth. The extreme high pressure combined with high magnetic fields and both high and low temperatures causes changes in the properties of the substance being tested.
