Big Light Workshop IV will be held May 23-24, 2007, at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. The conference will begin with breakfast on Wednesday, May 23, and continue on Thursday, May 24, concluding that afternoon. More information is listed below and in our flyer.

Agenda

The workshop begins at 8 a.m. on May 23 and wraps up around 4 p.m. on May 24. Please see the agenda for details.

Venue

The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in beautiful Tallahassee, Florida, will be the venue for this workshop. Tallahassee is not only the capital of Florida, but also home to two prestigious universities, Florida State University and Florida A&M University. Lodging

The Doubletree Hotel in Tallahassee is the selected place of lodging. The hotel is located at 101 S. Adams Street, approximately 5 miles from the lab. Lodging is not included in your registration fee. Lodging nights include arrival on Tuesday, May 22, with departure on Thursday, May 24. Check-in time is 3 p.m. and check-out time is 11 a.m. The rooms are $100 per night, not including sales tax. Any miscellaneous charges made to the room will be the responsibility of the conference attendee. All rooms are double occupancy rooms, unless attendee pays for a single occupancy room. There may be charges associated with late cancellations; please ask about the policy when you call to reserve your room. If you have any special needs (such as a handicap accessible room), please make the Doubletree aware when you reserve your room. Transportation

The Tallahassee Regional Airport is the only airport in town, serviced by three airlines: USAir, Northwest and Delta. The airport is approximately 3 miles from the lab and 7 miles from the Doubletree Hotel.

Weather

The average weather for May in Tallahassee is a low of 62°F and a high of 87°F. There are thundershowers spontaneously, so you may want to bring a raincoat or umbrella.

Invited Speakers

Invited speakers should submit an abstract for their talks no later than April 30, 2007. Abstracts should be no longer than one page and e-mailed to Joseph West via conference organizer Kitrina Dean at dean@magnet.fsu.edu. Please use the Abstract Submission Form. Speakers will receive one complimentary registration fee, which includes conference fee, lodging and meals provided by the conference. All talks should be 20 minutes in length.
