7th North American FT MS Conference
The 7th Biennial North American FT MS Conference will be held April 19-23, 2009 in Key West, Florida. The conference will begin Sunday, April 19th with a welcome mixer in the evening. The conference will end Wednesday evening, April 22nd with the banquet dinner. The FT MS Conference is held every two years and is the premier of its kind in the field of Fourier transform mass spectrometry and its applications. Presentations range from instrumentation to technique development in the biological/biomedical sciences ranging from pharmaceutical metabolism to proteomics, environmental analysis and petroleomics, with special emphasis on new developments. As in the past, partial support for several contributed posters for graduate students and postdocs will be offered.

The 7th FT MS Conference will be held at the Key West Marriott Beachside Hotel in Key West, Florida. The hotel is located on a seven-acre waterfront property with lush tropical gardens set on the southernmost point of one of the world's most storied travel destinations. A block of rooms has been reserved. Room types are described below. Rates below do not include tax (current tax is 11.5%). Speakers do not need to make reservations. - $179 – Standard Room is one room with bathroom with a king bed.
- $349 – Two Bedroom Garden View Suite is a suite with two bedrooms. One bedroom has king bed with a private bathroom and the other room is a Standard Room. The suite has a common area consisting of a full kitchen, dining area, sitting area and a porch.
- $369 – Two Bedroom Pool View Suite is the same as the Two Bedroom Garden View Suite, but with a different view.
Lodging reservations must be made no later than March 4, 2009, by 5:00 p.m. EST. Reservations made after that date are not guaranteed at the negotiated room rate. Current rate for a Standard Room during the conference period is $279 per night plus tax.
Check-in time is after 4:00 p.m., and check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Guests arriving prior to 4:00 p.m. or departing after 11:00 a.m. will be able to store their luggage with the bell staff until rooms become available or until they are ready to depart.
Reservations may be made by telephoning the hotel directly at the toll free number, 800-546-0885. The identity to use in order to receive the conference-negotiated rate is "7th North American FT MS Conference." Rates will not be changed at check-in for any guest who fails to identify that affiliation at the time of reservation. One night's guestroom plus tax will be billed to each guest who does not arrive or whose reservation is canceled less than 48 hours prior to arrival.

- Self-parking is free to guests of this conference. Valet parking is $20 per day.
- A porterage fee of $10 per room will be added to your bill.
- A housekeeping gratuity service charge of $2.50 per room per night will be added to your bill.

- Negotiated lodging rates are offered up to three days prior to and three days after the conference.

From the airport, start out going west toward Bus Road. Turn right onto Perimeter Road. Turn left onto NW 14th Street. Turn right onto NW 45th Avenue. Merge onto FL-836W. Merge onto FL-826 via the exit on the left toward Coral Way. Keep left to take FL-874S toward Toll Road/Homestead (portions toll). FL-874S becomes Florida's Turnpike S (portions toll). Turn slight right onto US-1 and continue to follow US-1S until you come to the entrance of Key West. Turn right onto North Roosevelt Boulevard. Hotel is on the right. Approximate driving time: 3 hours, 10 minutes. Estimated distance: 156.94 miles.

Start out going west on Faraldo Circle toward S Roosevelt Boulevard/US Hwy A1A. Turn left onto S Roosevelt Boulevard/US Hwy A1A. Continue to follow S Roosevelt Boulevard. End at the Hotel on the right. Approximate driving time: 6 minutes. Estimated distance: 1.98 miles.

The conference size is limited to 150 participants. All on-site registrations must be pre-approved prior to arrival by contacting the Conference Coordinator.

Registration cancellations made after April 3, 2009 will receive a full refund minus a 10% processing fee. Cancellations made on or after April 9, 2009 will receive a full refund minus a 25% processing fee. Cancellations made on or after April 13, 2009 will receive a full refund minus a 50% processing fee.

Speakers will receive one complimentary registration fee, which includes most meals at the conference. The conference will also cover lodging for all speakers. Rooms are reserved for speakers by the conference. Speakers still need to complete a registration form. Please insure that you denote your arrival and departure times on the form.

Except for the banquet talk, all talks should be 20 minutes in length.

Student awards do not cover registration fees. Student awards cover lodging during the conference. Student registration fees have been kept at a minimum to encourage attendance.
Room reservations will be made for all students receiving a student award. Please denote a roommate preference and your arrival and departure dates on the registration form. If this information is unknown at the time of registration, information will be requested again once determination of student awards has been made.
Maximum size of poster is 3′ x 4′ (portrait style).

Posters may be set up beginning on Sunday, April 19th after 5:00 p.m.
All posters need to be in place by Monday, April 20th at 4:00 p.m.
Posters must be removed by no later than Wednesday, April 22nd at 4:00 p.m. Any posters left at the conference will be thrown away.
